Let Me Be: Lord Have Mercy

Standard

A need for pity, pleading for

a break from decaying long shore

drifting sanity away from me.

Wowzers speak much Lord, have mercy.

~*~

See them crawling, seeking attention.

Vicious dogs barking for contention

into lives, it is clear to see

bridle their jaws, Lord have mercy.

~*~

Fly away ratchedness, fly quick

to a land of people who pick

that life. Let me, let me be,

stay far away, Lord have mercy.

~*~

*Poetry Form: Kyrielle [related to “Kyrie” a litany in Christian masses]

*minimum stanza of 3; rhyming quatrains; repeating refrain at the end of each stanza.

*eight syllables per line [aabB, ccbB, ddbB or abaB, cbcB, dbdB ]
